Northern Territory Occupation List 2018 includes all the occupations that are high in demand in Northern territory (NT) . It plays an important role for candidates who wish to work in Northern territory (NT) under Australian immigration. In case, candidate’s skilled occupation is not available in the Northern Territory Occupation List but is available on the Department of Immigration and Border Protection’s Combined list of skilled occupations, he/she may submit the visa application for NT nomination.
Although, the applicant must submit positive NT job probability proofs under a skilled occupation or a closely related skilled occupation. It can be stated in the following ways:
- A statement showing that the acquired skills and experience are matching the requirements of Northern territory employers
- A proof that the nominated occupation has been advertised in the Northern territory for number of times (screenshots of job advertisement must be submitted, online links are no enough as a proof) and also the applicant must describe that the acquired skills and experience are matching the requirements of the employment advertised.
- Secured a job offer and positive response from a Northern Territory employer.
The applicant may also submit strong family connections in Northern Territory.
Northern Territory has a very huge number of applicants who are residents of NT and employed there, which is why overseas applicants don’t get a chance for few occupations. To qualify they must submit proofs for acquired job offer under the nominated or closely related occupation in NT.
International graduates with no academic experience of NT and have acquired education from any other Australian region will need to submit the following:
- State that they are resident of NT and have acquired employment there in any skilled occupation or a closely related skilled occupation for a minimum period 6 months before applying for NT nomination.
- Was taken into account for NT nomination under the Skilled Regional Nominated (Subclass 489) visa.
Graduates who are eligible and have acquired minimum 2 years of tertiary studies will be able to submit the application for nomination under the Skilled Regional Nominated (Provisional) (Subclass 489) visa and Skilled Nominated (Subclass 190) visa
The applicant will be nominated or not by the Northern Territory depends on the NT Government, NT industries and employers’ requirements and the job prospects for the candidate in NT.
Occupation listed in the Northern territory occupation list 2018 doesn’t mean that the occupation position is empty at that particular time. NT Government doesn’t offer any job guarantee. Candidates have to compete in the labour market for job opportunities and he/she will be solely responsible for their employment and accommodation.
The Northern Territory Government does not offer any job placement service or any kind of monetary assistance. Applicants must be properly aware at the time of application preparation for nomination. They must know that the nomination will be judged on the basis of the acquired skills and how it fulfills the NT labour market’s requirements.

NT nomination processing time 2018 for general skilled migration applications are as follows-
- NT students/NT applicants – one month approximately
- Offshore applicants- six month approximately
